This week I read a very sad and disturbing blog post by a man suffering from terminal cancer in Washington State who soon intended to drink a doctor-prescribed lethal poison to end his life. The Court of Appeal for Ontario has issued a unanimous decision in the Rasouli Case upholding a lower court decision requiring doctors to gain the consent of family (or other substitute decision-maker) before withdrawing life support.
