The good news is that there will be no assisted suicide law passed in Maryland in 2015. Two committees were considering the legislation, and both declined to vote on it. The bad news is that the legislature is setting up a study group to come up with a proposal for the next session.

It looks like there will be no vote on assisted suicide in Connecticut either, and so far the New Jersey Senate has not taken up the bill passed by the House last fall.
Vermont remains an outlier state, along with Oregon and Washington, but a blitz of bills has followed the Brittany Maynard publicity campaign. In California, where Maynard testified posthumously via video, the Judiciary Committee has passed an assisted suicide bill. Hearings are currently ongoing, and it is uncertain what will happen there.
