WE HAVE ANOTHER WEEKEND FOR CALLING. PLEASE CALL AGAIN, AND GET A FRIEND TO CALL.
The House, unable to reach agreement on several issues, including assisted suicide, has postponed adjournment until Monday or Tuesday next week. The assisted suicide debate and vote will probably now come on Monday, May 13.
Our representatives will most likely come home for the weekend, giving us the best opportunity to speak with them personally. Home phone numbers for all representatives, by district, are listed at http://www.leg.state.vt.us/legdir/districts.cfm?Body=H.
CALLS ARE MUCH MORE EFFECTIVE THAN EMAILS, WHICH THE REPRESENTATIVES MAY NOT GET AROUND TO READING UNTIL AFTER THE VOTE OR WHICH MAY NOT BE DELIVERED DUE TO FULL MAILBOXES. PLEASE CALL. WE CAN STILL TURN THIS AROUND.
For talking points related to the latest amendment to the bill, see the post immediately below this one, attorney Margaret Dore’s analysis of the amended bill, shared from Alex Schadenberg’s page.
Everyone is tired and wants this to be over. We cannot let fatigue or discouragement stop us from continuing this battle to the very end. AGAIN, WE CAN STILL STOP ASSISTED SUICIDE FROM BECOMING LAW IN VERMONT.
